Yes, our wedding weekend falls during Lollapalooza, which is a major music festival held in Grant Park from July 31–August 2. This means Chicago will be extra busy, and that flights and hotels may book up quickly. We recommend reserving your travel and accommodations as early as possible to lock in the best rates. We’ve secured preferential rates at two hotels (see the “Travel” tab), but there are plenty of other great options in the Gold Coast and Lincoln Park neighborhoods — areas a little further north that should be less impacted by festival crowds.
Black tie optional. We’d love to see you in your best! Tuxes and gowns are fabulous, but so are dark suits and fancy mid-length dresses. The most important thing is that you feel great and ready to party.
Generally, you can expect warm (sometimes hot!) summer weather. Since our ceremony will be outdoors, we’ll have fans and plenty of ice water to keep everyone cool. Gentlemen should feel free to ditch their jackets during the ceremony if it’s toasty. Cocktail hour will be in a breezy, partially covered space, and then we’ll head indoors for the reception (and dancing in the AC!).
We’ve got you covered! We'll have shuttles taking guests from the Sofitel to the Honeycomb before the ceremony, and back from Cafe Brauer after the reception. The Westin is just a quick 5 minute walk from the Sofitel, and even if you’re not staying at either hotel, you’re welcome to hop on the shuttle for convenience.
While we love the little ones in our families, our wedding will be an adults-only celebration. We appreciate your understanding.
As much as we’d love to host everyone, the capacity at Cafe Brauer is limited. If your save the date or invitation includes a guest, they’re absolutely welcome. Otherwise, we can’t wait to celebrate with just you!
