It All Started With "Hey!"

Rachael and Matt met on Bumble, the dating app where the girl starts the conversation. Rachael decided to be really “original” and said “Hey!”. However, that one word totally won Matt over and he responded! The two of them finally met up after Matt rescheduled once for being sick (or so he says) and got drinks at Grape & Grain, a wine and beer bar (sadly it is no longer around). The date went well and they planned their next one, a walk with dinner after. Rachael showed up in dinner attire and Matt showed up in sweatpants!! He had a large corporate lunch right before and was "too full" for dinner. They still went on the walk and to this day, Rachael still calls that their “half-a-date”. After a successful 2.5 date where they finally had that promised dinner, Rachael left for New Zealand. They both thought the other would disappear, but they both stuck around. They knew it was something special. Matt and Rachael officially became a couple in January of 2019 and even though they don't know the exact date, they consider the 3rd weekend in January to be their anniversary! Matt and Rach have been together for 6 years now (7ish years on their wedding day)! During that time they have moved twice, raised a spoiled Cat named Milo, been on countless small trips, and have visited Mexico and Ireland after Matt finally got his passport in 2020! On Christmas morning of 2024, Matt proposed at home in front of the Christmas tree. A few months before, he asked about an expensive bottle of wine and when they could open it. Rachael wrote on a napkin that they could drink it when Matt proposed. Rach was shocked to find that wine bottle and napkin displayed on the table by the tree on Christmas morning. Matt got down on one knee and asked, Rachael said (sobbed) yes, and they surprised their families later that day. The best part of the story is that Matt was so excited to ask her, that she was still in her robe and hair towel because she had just gotten out of the shower! It was perfect!!
