It was the summer before our Senior and Junior years of high school. We had been talking over Facebook, playing Texas Hold'em poker of all things. Eventually we decided to get together with some friends and go on a trip to Silverwood Themepark, in which we spent the day actively avoiding each other on any rides due to awkward teenage anxiety. Finally we rode on one ride together, both in content bliss (the scrambler makes an easy excuse for "accidental" contact). Afterwards, I "accidentally" left my themepark candy in his ford explorer, causing him to give me a visit at my home. He asked me out on a date to a movie theater, he said "my hands are cold," and the rest is history. - Rachael
I was excited, because I knew there was no way John would take a trip with one days notice just for kicks. After ten years of being together, this was it. It was the end of November, right before Thanksgiving, and we spent the morning making a drive up to Leavenworth, Wa for a hike. It was more of a hike than we could imagine. We huffed and puffed to the top of a gorgeous mountain overlooking a gorgeous valley. As we reached the summit of the mountain, soft wisps of snow feathered down on us. I sat on a log and he took one knee to ask me to marry him. - Rachael
