How We Met

UCLA || August 2016

You know that college couple who met at orientation and only have eyes for each other? Well we were that couple (kinda). In the Summer of '16, we both happened to attend the same orientation weekend and each needed to find more people for our Carpe Noctum group (a midnight scavenger hunt on the last night of orientation). We spent the night running all over campus trying to find different UCLA landmarks and race against the other teams. We parted ways thinking there was no way we would see each other again, but God had other plans for us. Imagine our surprise when we both showed up at Cru's annual Glow-in-the-Dark capture the flag event at the beginning of our freshman year.

The Proposal

Pacific Palisades || September 2019

After 3 years worth of late night conversations, spontaneous adventures, and cute dates, he decided to pop the question. The ever romantic guy he is, Trevor put a lot of planning into the event to make it as perfect as it possibly could be. He staked out the best proposal sites all over LA, arranged for a dinner with family and friends post-proposal, and even timed it so he would ask right as the sun was setting. What he did not plan for, however, was Rachael accidentally discovering that her parents were driving down the five on their way to make the post-proposal dinner. He then had to put a lot of work into throwing her off track by taking her all over LA, pretending the car had a problem that made him drive like 25 miles per hour, and playing the day off like he had nothing planned. To get her to the proposal spot he said that they were getting dinner in Malibu, but would stop to watch the sunset. They went to an outlook over the mountains and ocean where he had set up a lantern, a bottle of champagne, and antique glasses from his grandmother. With a speaker playing their favorite song in the background, he dropped down on one knee and asked the question. She, of course, could not help but say yes, and shed a couple of happy tears!
