How we met

The Invisible String Theory

In the summer of 2023, Rabia and Yasin both joined Jalebi, an Ismaili dating app, each quietly hoping to find the one. Just five days later, on August 14, 2023, they swiped right on each other, and something beautiful began. What started as lighthearted flirting quickly felt effortless and familiar, like a conversation that had been waiting to happen all along. Six days later, they spoke on the phone for the first time, a call meant to be brief but instead stretching into four unforgettable hours. As they continued getting to know one another, the universe gently revealed its signs. They realized their lives had been brushing past each other for years, connected through shared spaces and familiar names. While living in East Africa, the Dhanani family had formed many meaningful friendships—friends who, it later turned out, were part of Yasin’s extended family. Years later, during university, Rabia gained a close friend who would also eventually be revealed as Yasin’s cousin. It felt less like coincidence and more like destiny quietly doing its work. Their first date took place on September 3, 2023, at Major Tom’s in Calgary. Somewhere between the laughter, long conversations, and stolen glances, they knew this was something special. By the end of the night, it was clear they were in it for the long haul. What made that moment even sweeter was the distance love crossed to make it happen. Rabia drove three hours from Edmonton, and Yasin flew eight hours from Orlando, just to meet each other for the very first time. The Invisible String Theory says that no matter how far apart two souls may be, an unseen thread gently pulls them toward one another. Looking back, every moment, every sign, and every step led them exactly where they were meant to be. Together.
