"Will you serve Jehovah with me forever?" Those were Quinton's words when he asked Tonya to marry him on April 13, 2024. She said, "I would love to." Followed by a lot of giggling and hugs. How did we get here? In March of 2023, Quinton visited family in Atlanta and met Tonya at one of their meetings. They only met, and no conversation was shared. He came back to Atlanta in July for another visit and his family hosted a gathering at their home where Tonya was also a guest. There was good food and good company, but no interest shown. Everyone was just hanging out, playing games and watching movies. Another visit in late August to attend the convention with family and the large group shared a meal together. No significant conversations beyond greetings. Earlier in the year, Quinton had asked to be included in the group with his family when the tours first re-opened at Bethel in May. Tonya had also asked to be included. So, in September 2023, when the time for the trip to New York arrived, there was a travel group of 6 scheduled with tours to the MET, Walkill and Warwick, along with a plethora of other recreational stuff. It was a good balance of fun and everyone left that 6-day trip well-rested and spiritually encouraged. Apparently, there were sparks of interest by then. When they parted, Tonya told Quinton "Let me know when you make it home to Mississippi." He did, and the rest is history. When you ask Quinton what attracted him to Tonya, he says, "She is a spiritual woman. She is beautiful - inside and out. She is full of joy and positive energy. She loves Jehovah, lives her life simply, and her spiritual goals align with mine." When you ask Tonya, what attracted her to Quinton, she says, "He's caring, patient and has a sense of humor. He's intrigued by spiritual things. He was really into the tour at the MET and even when others weren't as enthralled, Quinton was, and said as much. So that showed me he will speak up for spiritual things, come what may. And after getting to know him more, I love his loyalty and integrity to Jehovah." Dating long distance can be challenging. Thank goodness for Zoom and FaceTime. Sprinkle in several visits to Atlanta and to Mississippi that ALWAYS include spiritual activities; then fast forward to the surprise proposal on April 13, 2024 and we are here. Love has blossomed and Jehovah is at the center of it all. Tonya and Quinton, together with their families, want you to share in their joy as they marry on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
