We don't actually remember. Seriously! Well, we remember when we met most recently, which was in August 2017 at our mutual friends' (and wedding party members–hey Nikki and Ian!) wedding. Brad was the best man and I was a guest. We were introduced on the dance floor where Brad, perhaps a few drinks deep, loudly yelled, "HOW DO I KNOW YOU?!" And the rest is history. Upon discovering that we grew up 10 minutes away from one another and shared several mutual friends, we're fairly certain our paths crossed once or twice prior to 2017, we just didn't leave a lasting impression on one another. Timing is everything.
So let me start off by stating that planning a proposal in late 2020/early 2021 was a slight challenge. Initially, I had planned on asking Quinn during a trip to Myrtle Beach in January where we would work remotely for the week. Shortly before the trip, she decided she didn’t want to go (to which I really wanted to say “but I think you do!”). So my next plan was to propose at Phipps, a great idea I think! Well, at the time, Phipps had very strict capacity limits, and even hours on the phone could not find a way to get around the restrictions. So, onto the third plan! Even though it was after Christmas, I still wanted a decent backdrop for the proposal, so I thought the PPG tree was a good spot. The evening before, a plan was decided to have Quinn get her nails done to look great in the pictures… but on the way home I found out that they took the tree down that day. So on to a panicked plan number four! Near the PPG tree, we went to the Horne’s tree for a good backdrop. With Ian and Nikki there to take pictures and Chelsea and Dave hiding across the street (they had said they were “busy” that night), it made for a perfect situation with her Matron of Honor and my Best Man getting to share that moment with us! It may have been a stressful few weeks, but I know it was worth it many times over to spend the rest of my life with Quinn next to me.
