Anton and I met in the summer of 2009. He had just come back from basic training from the Army and we were introduced by a mutual friend. We actually didn’t hit it off too well and lost touch. I knew that he had been deployed to Iraq and we’d speak periodically. He’d tell me how things were out there and I’d tell him he was in my prayers. He eventually came home on leave and we went on a date. We went to see Kevin hart and walk on the beach. One of the best dates ever! We ended up hitting it off really well this time and he made me his girlfriend. Anton was from California but was stationed at for Riley in Kansas. And we would try our best to make things work as though we were in the same city. We’d watch movies together on our laptops, pushing play at the same time so that our movies were in unison. We’d fall asleep with the phone on the pillow so it was like we were sleeping next to each other. Our love story definitely isn’t perfect or traditional, but it’s ours. Now I get to marry my best friend!
