Our Story

A story of likes, dislikes, and legal obligations. When Quincy and Katie first connected on a Christian dating app, Quincy's profile stated that he liked Maryland and disliked Delaware (his "legal obligation as a Marylander"). Little did he know that he would match with a Delaware girl who liked rock climbing almost as much as he did. Within a few weeks of talking, Quincy and Katie met in person for the first time on a Tuesday night in October of 2023 (Halloween, to be exact) to go rock climbing at the University of Delaware's rock climbing gym. After about an hour of climbing (mostly attempting climbs and falling off the wall), their conversation was still going strong, and they proceeded to sit on the curb in the parking lot behind Grotto's pizza for another two hours in the chilly fall air. As Quincy was getting ready to drive back to his home in Elkton, he told Katie he would be glad to get to know her as a friend first, and Katie could not have left that conversation feeling more content. The next few months of friendship consisted of "How was your day?" texts from Quincy, more rock climbing (this time at the Delaware Rock Gym), another hours-long conversation (over coffee at Rise 'N Grind), and a spontaneous sushi dinner. In February 2024, Quincy (with some encouragement from a friend) finally asked Katie if he could treat her to a Valentine's Day brunch. It was during that date (or as Quincy called it, hanging out) where he finally told Katie he felt ready to date, but made it clear that she should not feel under pressure to make a decision right away. Before they officially began dating, they had a conversation about their expectations for each other in a dating relationship, and the boundaries and "guardrails" they would establish to ensure they kept God at the center. Katie admired Quincy's intentionality from the day they first met to the day he asked her to be his girlfriend in March. It took a little over one year of dating for Quincy to ask Katie to be his wife. Quincy proposed to Katie on May 18th, 2025 by the water in Chesapeake City, followed by a dinner at Schaefer's with both their families, a photo shoot on the other side of the canal, and a spontaneous ice cream double date with their friends. Over the past year and a half, their relationship has deepened through moments of laughter and a shared love for pasta, but most importantly through their Christian faith. They believe in a loving and holy God, who sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to live a perfect life and to take on the punishment that we all deserve for our sin. They believe Jesus died and rose again so that all who believe can have a restored relationship with God and the hope of eternal life. For Quincy and Katie, this faith serves as the foundation of their relationship to one another. As they prepare for marriage, they are committed to loving and serving one another with humility -- just as Jesus loves them. They cannot wait to celebrate their marriage and love with all of you on June 6th.
