Our Love Story

We met in high school our sophomore year when I was skipping band practice one day and wandered into her triathlon club meeting. I had never thought about triathlons before, but decided to give it a shot after seeing the pretty girl who ran it. After two early Saturday mornings, I stopped showing up to practice, but I still went to their parties. Fast forward to senior year. Quinci told me she was in English class down the hall from me as we were walking to our classes, so I went to my counselor that day and requested to be put in her English class. Once I was enrolled, I was seated in the opposite corner from Quinci. We never talked as a result. I didn’t have my phone at that time, and when I finally got it, I had a message asking if I wanted to go ice skating. I ignored it for a bit and then asked the individual who they were. She told me to guess, but I had a hunch it was her. We started hanging out most weekends and quickly started dating. Things went well between us and seemed like we were natural for each other. She went to college in Canada and I went to A&M. We dated long distance for a year and decided it'd be easier as friends. Four years later, I had gotten a contract to go to pilot training for the USAF the day after I graduated, but my USAF professor told me I could request another couple weeks to get ready. The USAF then decided to give me 9 months to prepare for training, so I got to hang out in Cypress until then. Almost immediately, I realized this seemed like God’s way of saying to date Quinci again. So, I asked Quinci to give us another shot, and we caught up on the four years we were apart. We had changed over the four years, but we still felt strongly for each other and continued to get closer. We dated long distance again when I joined the USAF in May 2020, but we weren’t going to let distance interfere again. After two years of dating, we got engaged and have no doubt we want to spend the rest of our lives together. - Scott

How He Asked

August 14, 2021

Scott and I met 10 years ago when he showed up to one of my high school triathlon club practices. Looking back, it brings tears to my eyes because I had no idea that that would be the day that God would bless me with the love of my life. For some reason, our paths continued to cross throughout high school and I was curious to find out why. So, I asked this cutie to go ice skating, which was the beginning of our love story. Fast forward to the morning of the proposal. With Scott in the Air Force and living in Del Rio, we try to see each other as often as possible. Most of the time, we meet on weekends somewhere around San Antonio or nearby cities. We had planned a weekend trip to Fredericksburg, but little to my knowledge, Scott had been planning this moment for months. Since Scott knows me so well and knows that I’m not a fan of surprises, he let me plan all the weekend activities. I had no idea that he had a plan of his own. On the Saturday morning of our trip, as I was getting ready for the day, Scott was acting somewhat peculiar and continued walking in and out of our Airbnb. But I have grown to know that his odd ways are one of the many reasons I love him so much. As we were leaving our place for coffee, there was a beautiful box that Scott had made sitting outside on the porch. Engraved on the outside was my name. He told me to open it. When I opened it, inside was flawlessly engraved “Will You Marry Me?”, along with a smaller box. He took out the smaller box, and was on one knee before I even knew what had happened. Because this was not in the scheduled activities that I had planned, I was completely shocked and he took my breath away. I was at a loss for words and couldn’t believe what an incredible surprise this was. He had picked out the most breathtaking ring with no guidance from anyone. What started out as a normal Saturday morning quickly turned into THE best day of my life and I can’t want to spend forever with this beyond perfect man. - Quinci
