The Horls

Collin started working at Olive Garden in Centereach where Sam had been working. It was a large staff so it took over a month for them to talk for the first time when Sam had a group of coworkers over after work and Collin invited himself. Once they started talking that night, they hit it off and Collin asked her on their first date that night.

Collin and Sam went on their first date to Rhum in Patchogue. As restaurant workers, their biggest pet peeve is being asked to come back to take an order more than once (we’re busy!) and that night their server had to come back three times to get an order. They laughed over margaritas and duck empanadas and realized how much they had in common. When it was time to go home, Collin asked if Sam could direct him back to her house and she confirmed. Newsflash: she could not. Despite her sense of direction and an extra thirty minutes to the drive, the time let them get to know each other better and after that day they never went another without talking.

Collin officially asked Sam to be his girlfriend at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey in an M&M’s transport cart. They had basically been dating already, and were already obsessed with each other. They said I love you (Collin first) sometime around this time (when ya know, ya know).

Collin met Sam’s other soulmate, her 11 year old cat Kitty one afternoon when they went to visit her parents. She warned him that Kitty is mean and probably wouldn’t be nice to him at first, and instead Kitty immediately approached Collin to be pet. Getting the Kitty seal of approval is hardest of all, so Sam was very impressed. Once Sam brought Kitty to live with her full time, they became an unbreakable trio.

Sam and Collin took their first trip as a couple to Burlington, Vermont. They love exploring new areas and trying different activities they wouldn’t at home. This helped develop their love of traveling and exploring together. Since then they’ve been to Boston, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Nashville, St. Thomas, Aruba, Costa Rica, Cancun, and more.

2022 was when Sam and Collin developed their love of going to games and concerts. They love the energy of stadiums and arenas, and will always have fun even if they aren’t rooting for the home team. Some of their favorite events attented throughout their relationship are going to MSG to see the Rangers, seeing the Taylor Swift/the Eras Tour at Metlife Stadium, and going to see Hamilton for Collin’s first Broadway show.

Collin and Sam moved into their first apartment together in Huntington, NY. They discovered their key roles in the relationship: Collin being the chef, and Sam deciding what shows to watch on TV.

Collin asked Sam to marry him in an intimate moment on the beach under the stars in Cancun, Mexico. Sam “knew” it was coming, but Collin still had managed to surprise her. They got to celebrate the rest of their trip with the beach great food, and drinks as fiancé’s!

Collin and Sam rescued their cat Cleopatra (Cleo) at four weeks old and she completed their family. Cleo has brought so much chaos and joy into their lives. Kitty and Cleo formed a fast sisterhood (aka, Cleo wants to be exactly like Kitty). The best part of every day for Collin and Sam is going home to “the girls”.
