Visitors to Yuma, Arizona, can easily make a day trip out of traveling to the town of Los Algodones in Baja California, Mexico. Located just across the U.S. border, Los Algodones is home to about 5,500 inhabitants and a short 10 mile drive south of Yuma. The village lies seven miles west of Yuma through the entry port of Andrade. Drivers use the Route 186 Andrade exit on Interstate 8 and head south for about two miles. Many visitors enter on foot and walk about five minutes from the border to town. For ease of parking, a paid lighted parking lot is available on the U.S. side. Bring along a passport and be sure to follow all rules and laws. There are also some safety precautions to consider before heading into Mexico.
