Annecy Lake is one of the purest lake in all Europe and offers outstanding views years long with its clear water and surrounding mountains. In summer, it is warm enough to swim in it from one of the many free public beaches all around the lake. Annecy boat company offers connections around the lake during the day and you can even have a diner cruise on "Le Libellule" while enjoying sunset on the lake. If you prefer to be on your own, there are many small companies that will rent you a boat all around the lake.
The Semnoz is a small mountain 30mn from Annecy. It's easy access and medium altitude makes it a perfect place for families. In summer this small ski station still offers a miriad of activities: Summer Sledge, All terrain scooter, Mini kart, Biathlon with obstacle course, Animal park and Tree parkour with nets and zip lines in Quintal. You can choose to park at the bottom of the station and hike or take the lift or drive all the way to the peak and enjoy a great view of Annecy and the lake.
Le Grand Bornand is a ski station city and in summer a great setting point for outdoor activities. Mountain Bike, Archery, Horse riding, Climbing.. The surrounding mountains are best discovered on foot through amazing and sometimes challenging hikes. It is also a great area to visit high altitude farms and enjoy a relaxing day a the spa.
The Mt Blanc is the tallest mountain in western Europe rising 4,805.59 m (15,766 ft). It is commonly viewed from "L'aiguille du midi" top. A lift will bring you up there and you can even book a meal at the peak restaurant "Le 3842" (book in advance). If you feel very adventurous, mid-June is a great time to hike the Mt Blanc! Hire a local guide and take up the challenge if you dare! Another great activity in the area is the visit of the "mer de glace" near Chamonix. Book a ride on the iconic Montenvers train and go see for yourself the consequences of global warming as the glacier has drastically diminished in the last 20years.
Lyon is 2nd most populated city in France and were Quentin studied and lived for 5 years. The main attraction is the "basilique de fourviere" a gigantic church on top Lyon's main hill. Hire a guide to visit the "Traboules", the intricate streets carved through Lyon old downtown and learn about the city's history. Lyon is also known as France culinary capital and is a great place to discover the French cuisine at a very reasonable price thanks a myriad of small restaurants called "Bouchons".
