The bond between Quentin and Erica was predestined, forged by the deep-rooted friendship between their families that spanned over three decades. Erica's grandmother and Quentin's mother were inseparable, sharing not just a deep friendship but also a shared vision for the futures of their beloved children/grandchildren. This connection became even more profound as Quentin's mother battled illness in the summer of 2021. During one of their conversations, the question arose: "What if Erica and Quentin were to meet, really meet?" Despite knowing each other in passing, they had never truly connected. It was only fitting that their families formally introduce them. And so, in late June of 2021, Quentin reached out to Erica, beginning with casual conversations that quickly became something more. Their first date at Pappadeaux set the tone for what would be a whirlwind of three back-to-back dates, including a fun-filled miniature golf outing and a leisurely day at the mall. It didn't take long for them to realize they had found something special. By the end of those three days, they were inseparable. As their relationship blossomed, Quentin asked Erica to be his girlfriend. They celebrated New Year's Eve 2021 by taking their first trip together to St. Louis, marking the beginning of a new chapter. The year 2022 was spent deepening their connection, not only with each other but also with their respective children. Quentin, passionate about his work with The Academy Group, where he led programs for Black and Brown youth, encouraged Erica's daughter, Amaya, to join. This involvement allowed Quentin and Amaya to form a bond, while Erica and Quentin's son, Wesley, spent Saturdays together, further strengthening their relationship. Unbeknownst to Erica, Quentin had already made up his mind that she was the one for him during a trip to Mexico in May 2023. Erica, despite her fears, joined Quentin on an adventurous excursion, zip-lining from dizzying heights and diving into a cave despite not knowing how to swim, all while bats flew overhead. Her bravery and willingness to push through her fears, holding on to a life buoy ring, showed Quentin that she was committed to facing life's challenges with him, no matter how daunting. It was this moment that solidified Quentin's decision. On December 17th, 2024, Quentin proposed to Erica, marking the beginning of their forever. And now, as they prepare to exchange vows on May 17th, 2025, surrounded by close family and friends, they look forward to a lifetime of love, adventure, and the continuation of a legacy that began long before they were even born.
