Allyson and I first crossed paths during a NABS (National Association of Black Scuba Divers) Zoom call. I was there, casually tuned in, when her energy instantly caught my attention. As the discussion went on, she chimed in with her thoughts, and I couldn’t help but be captivated by her passion and poise. After the call ended, I mustered up the courage to message her, sparking a conversation that felt so natural, it was like we’d known each other forever. One call led to another, and soon, we weren’t just connecting over shared interests—we were slowly building something deeper. That chance meeting on Zoom became the beginning of a love story neither of us saw coming, but both of us are so grateful for. The rest, as they say, is officially black history.
