Our Story

Queen and I go way back – I’m talking childhood family friends. Our parents have been tight since before we were even a twinkle in their eyes. In fact, when I popped into the world, Queen's mom was there, cheering me on like a true MVP. Our families were so close that they all lived in the same compound back in Nigeria. So, naturally, our paths were bound to cross at some point. But funny enough, we didn’t actually meet until we were older. It took a little matchmaking from my cousin, who slyly passed me Queen’s number back in high school. We hit it off over WhatsApp and phone calls, but we still hadn’t met face-to-face. Then, in 2017, Queen and her family moved to the good ol' USA. She reached out, not just to catch up, but also because, let’s be real, she needed a tour guide. And who better than yours truly? I showed her around like a champ – sights, sounds, the whole shebang. Little did we know, our friendship was about to take a turn. Despite our initial intentions of just being just friends, God had other plans. Before we knew it, we were head over heels, and our friendship blossomed into something more. I’ll never forget that moment when I looked into her eyes and felt my heart do a little dance. I knew right then and there, she was the one. Since then, our love has been nothing short of a wild and wonderful adventure. I wouldn’t want to navigate this crazy life with anyone else but the love of my life, Queen Oluwatobi – soon to be Mrs. Whyte. Here’s to forever and always, my Queen. INTERVIEWING THE COUPLE What was your first impression of yourselves? Queen: My first impression of Kenaz was that he is the nicest and most thoughtful young man. Kenaz: My first impression of Queen was that she was a shy and beautiful girl.
What is something about each other that makes you smile? Queen: His care and how he takes care of me always bring a smile to my face. Kenaz: How she takes care of me.
How did you know he or she was the one? Queen: I knew Kenaz was the one when I couldn't go a day without hearing from or talking to him, and when I saw how thoughtful he was about me. Kenaz: It was in the deep sense of peace and home I felt whenever I was with her.
What is a small gesture that means a lot to you? Queen: Kenaz can ask me if i am ok like 1 million times a day just because he wants to make sure i am okay and i have everything i need Kenaz: She makes sure my food is always the right temperature the way i like it.
What advice will you give other couples? Queen: Make God the number one priority in your relationship. Also, when you have a man who is ready to do anything to make you happy, keep him. Kenaz: Listen to each other with empathy and understanding, and never stop appreciating the little things.
