Matthew and his parents, Susan and Steve, had bought tickets to see country singer Josh Turner at the Northwest Washington Fair. When his mom was unable to go due to becoming sick that day, Matthew decided to ask me to come along with him and his dad. Matthew and I had met online and had been talking on and off for a couple years. I was hesitant at first but something urged me to go. And am I so grateful I did! I remember him pulling up the driveway to my parent's house to pick me up in his little Toyota Solara. My nerves were through the roof I was so excited! From the moment we first said hello I could feel my whole world shift. His smile put me at ease and the rest of the night we had SO much fun! It was definitely the best date ever.
As Coronavirus restrictions were lifting towards the end of 2020, a New Years party on New Years Eve was the perfect opportunity for Matthew to make the ultimate surprise a reality! I had gotten that gut feeling of him possibly popping the big question for Christmas. Let me tell you, I was suspicious! And Matthew, he knew it. So when it didn't end up happening I completely accepted it and moved on from the thought of it happening for awhile. Little did I know, the following week at the New Years party, I would be completely blindsided by Matthew walking through the door (who was supposed to be at work mind you) and got down on his knee and out popped the ring! The rush of emotions all at once was the most wonderful feeling ever. I knew that at moment that our forever, was just about to begin.
