We knew we were attracted to one another after both swiping right, but unfortunately, we were interested in other people. A few weeks later Amanda went to the Roaring Donkey, in Petaluma, with some friends. A stranger offered to buy Amanda a drink, so she went up to the bar to put her order in. What Amanda didn’t know was that just down the bar was Austin buying himself a drink. Austin and Amanda made eye contact, and Austin proceeded to ask her, “are you Amanda?”. Amanda responded with confusion in her voice, “yes”, and Austin cleared things up with his username from Snapchat, Austin Tex Nahmens. Their conversation concluded when their drinks came. Amanda and one of her friends looked at one another and both said, “D***, he is cute.” It would be another few weeks when Amanda built enough courage to send Austin a message asking, “when are you going to ask me on a date?”. Austin responded asking, “would Tuesday work for you?” .... and Tuesday did work for her.
For Amanda’s 23rd birthday Austin treated her to an amazing trip to Seattle. They wanted to go to Seattle for their love of grunge music. When they arrived in Seattle they dropped off their bags and headed to some of Seattle’s tourist spots, one of them being the Space Needle. After a long line to reach the top of the Space Needle, Amanda sat on the intimidating glass bench while Austin found someone to take our photo. Instead of sitting Austin reached into his sock and pulled out a brown box that he had been walking with all day and proceeded to go on one knee. This is when Austin asked Amanda to spend the rest of her life with him. While they were both nervously shaking when people around them where taking photos, she said yes.
