That's right, our story started with a rose...well kind of. In 2010/2011 Jessica was invited to go to the Bristol Renaissance fair with a group of people she did not know. Despite being nervous, she finally decided to tag along with her friend Davy. Throughout the day, the group saw many things including the joust, fantasticals and Moonie the Magnificent. As the group was watching Moonie, Dan was pulled onto the stage to assist with one of the acts. Dan performed very well and gave the crowd some good laughs, including putting out a small fire that Moonie had dropped (Don't worry it was part of the show)! Laughing along, Jess knew she had found a new group of friends, but little did she know that that day she had met her soul mate. Time had passed at the faire, seeing more shows, drinking sassafras, and towards the end of the day a flower salesman came up to Dan and convinced him to by a flower for one of the ladies. Dan assigned us each a number, pulled a die out his pocket and rolled it, it landed on the number 4, which was the number assigned to Jessica. She picked a rainbow rose from the basket and walk arm in arm with Dan towards the exit. When the group arrived back at Shaw's (another mutual friend and groomsman) Dan went to kiss Jessica. The only problem is...Jessica thought he was going for a hug and hugged him...yup. Through years of hanging out, playing D&D, going on walks, hanging at windy city subs their friendship grew even stronger, And while Jessica thought Dan was just being a really nice friend, she was clueless that Dan was falling for her. When Dan finally confessed his feelings for her, Jess stated she only saw him as a friend. Boy was she wrong. The two still hung out together often and remained very close. It wasn't long after turning Dan down that Jessica realized she actually did see him as more than a friend and was afraid she would live with that regret forever. A year or so later, Jessica was earning some extra credit in college and needed to choreograph a waltz and swing number for an upcoming flute recital. When her original dance partner dropped out, Dan offered his assistance. and it wasn't long before Jess realized, she was actually head over heels for Dan. The two completed rehearsals and went on as friends, still Jessica kept the secret because Dan was dating another girl at this time. In 2016 both Jess and Dan were hanging out again, more now that the two were single and had more time to do so, and Dan asked Jess to be his girlfriend. Jessica immediately said yes and felt her heart finally feel complete. Shortly after the two started dating, Dan bought a matching ring set from hot topic that said, "Her Beast" and "His Beauty", which you will find the couple wearing every day. In the 6 years Dan and Jess dated, they faced new challenges as all couples do. From scheduling holidays with their families, to living together during covid, to adopting their beloved fur babies Buddy and Alex. it all led to July 9th 2022. It was a normal hot July day and the sounds of renaissance faire once again filled the air. This time Jessica's mother, Dans sisters, niece and nephews joined for the festivities. Jessica was none the wiser when after seeing Moonie the Magnificent, Dan wanted to get a photo of us. There, next to the world stage, in front of the Moonie sign at around 12:45 pm Dan dropped to one knee and asked the words that he had been long to say and that Jess had been longing to hear, "Will you marry me?". Jess dropped to her knees and sobbed with delight, though Dan joking states he was worried they may not be tears of joy, eventually Jessica composed herself enough to say, "Yes!". And here we are. Planning our wedding, looking forward to that day we get to say, "I do".
