Candace and Syd had started talking about marriage and their longer-term goals and everything pointed to 2020. Candace knew she had to include some of Sydney’s favorite things into the proposal. (The proposal was secret.) Candace worked with Syd’s best friends to make the moment as magical and memorable as possible. First step was location. A few spots came to mind but as a hopeless romantic all paled in comparison to the University of Michigan Law Quad. Check. Next, Candace got crafty. She painted a canvas with Sydney’s favorite quote from a class she was taking at the time & got a Message light box and a canvas of pictures from their whole journey together so far. Candace decided the date would be one year before they were going to get married (10.10.19 > 10.10.2020). Candace got Sydney’s favorite photographer (Jordan Wilshaw Photo) and all of their besties together to conspire. Candace felt like she waited forever for Syd to show up to the law quad and by the time the proposal happened there was an audience both outside and inside the quad. Little did Sydney know, but Candace had a lot of their friends waiting back at our apartment for a little engagement party and celebration. We are forever grateful for our village.
