Thank you for helping us make memories in Belize as husband and wife by the gifting of the following excursions. Without your generosity, these wonderful tropical adventures would never be possible.
Ben keeps telling me about when he used to dive and I really want to try it! This lets me start out in a pool nice and safe but includes real dives in the ocean, too!

The majestic "mountain cow" is the national animal of Belize. I didn't even know it was a thing! But with this special tour by the people who run the zoo, we get to go in the cages and feed and handle some of them like the zookeepers do...with a little help from the actual experts. We even get to see some of the animal's natural habitats that can only be reached by canoe, how cool is that?

This is no normal nightlife, but this zoo isn't like the ones back home! Built into the natural habitat of these animals, the Belize zoo focuses on showcasing the ones that live here, many of which are nocturnal. To see them at their best, we can stay until after sundown for a private tour of the animals at their most active before turning in and falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle (within the safety of our cabin, of course).

I've never been to a reservation-only restaurant before and every guide says The French Touch is the best food on (or off) the island! Apparently the chef fell in love with this paradise and moved here, adding the island flavor to his cuisine without compromising his traditional French training. No one knows how he gets better cuts of steak on the island than you can find on the mainland, but everyone agrees it's among the best they've ever had!

I'm not a soup person but for this place, I'll make an exception. Mesa is legendary and in both guides and comments I couldn't find anyone with a bad thing to say about it (not even on the internet)! Even better, the owners are known for coming out and just sitting with guests to talk about the history of the island and make sure they don't miss out on anything going on since a lot of events are word-of-mouth only.

Ceviche might be from Peru but its practically everywhere in Belize. I've never had it so I looked for the best place to try it and Wild Mango's is not only renowned for it but they've got tons of different types to try! We want to try new foods but it's hard to trust a greasy spoon in a country you've never been. I feel like Celebrity Restaurant will be our go-to place when we're in Belize City.

Back in the 60's, Caye Caulker (the next island over from where we'll be staying) was literally torn in two by Hurricane Hattie. Rather than try and fill in the gap, the locals celebrated it and named it "The Split!" Now it's like a giant backyard barbecue every day but instead of burgers and hot dogs it's fish and lobster that's only hours from the ocean to the grill and instead of dogs running around begging for scraps, it's the local pelicans!
