Pushkar and Sonia's modern love story began in the ways of a bygone era, with a little matchmaking help. He was in West Palm Beach, and she was in the heart of Brickell. For their first meeting, they met in the middle at a strip mall Thai restaurant in Hollywood, FL. The conversation flowed naturally with neither wanting the evening to end. Over the next few days, Pushkar and Sonia spent hours talking on the phone, as Pushkar traveled for residency interviews. For the next 2 months, they saw each other every week, typically with Pushkar making the sacrifice to drive in rush hour traffic to visit Sonia in Miami. Suddenly, the world came to a screeching halt with the advent of the global COVID19 pandemic. It was a golden opportunity to build a solid foundation without all the typical distractions. Pushkar and Sonia had deep conversations about their childhoods, their values, their most life-defining moments, and their visions for the future. They met each other’s family and friends, albeit virtually. And both were sure they had found their person. Just a mere 10 months after their first meeting, with the blessings of both their families, Pushkar proposed on a crisp morning of November 19, 2020 at the Arboretum in Washington D.C., and Sonia was thrilled to say yes to him forever.
