Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Formal Attire We’re planning for a timeless, slightly elevated evening—think midi-to-maxi length dresses or suits with or without ties. Please plan for cooler evening weather & opt to bring a shawl.

Question

Where is the wedding taking place?

Answer

Our ceremony and reception will be held at the Gibbes Museum of Art in downtown Charleston: 135 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401 The ceremony will be held indoors on the 2nd floor rotunda, and the tented reception will be held outdoors in the Lenhardt Garden.

Question

Where should I park?

Answer

There are several nearby public garages within a short walk: Queen Street Garage (93 Queen St.) Charleston Place Garage (85 Hasell St.) Street parking is also available but can be limited, so we recommend allowing extra time or using a ride service like Uber or Lyft.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We love your little ones, but this will be an adults-only evening besides our wedding party littles so everyone can relax and celebrate.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 5:30 PM sharp. We recommend arriving 15–20 minutes early to find parking and get settled in the rotunda.

Question

Is there a place to stay nearby?

Answer

Absolutely! There are wonderful hotels and inns just steps from the Gibbes. Check the Travel section for our favorite stays nearby.

Question

What else is there to do in the area?

Answer

The Gibbes is right in the heart of Charleston’s Historic District—perfect for strolling, shopping, and sipping something sweet. We’ve listed our favorite restaurants, cafes, and must-see sights on the Things To Do page!

Question

Can I take photos in the museum?

Answer

While the museum galleries are typically no-photography zones, our celebration will include private access, and our photographer will capture all the magic. We kindly ask guests to be present, silence, and put their phones away during the ceremony. Take as many pictures as you would like at any other point and please send them to Carley! 229.947.0431
