Claire and Michael met as freshman at the University of Oregon in January of 2018. The two were in a meeting for DuckTV Sports, the school's student news station, when they were assigned to cover the Oregon-Oregon State basketball game together. That day, the pair spent over twelve hours working together and soon became great friends, bonding over their shared love of sports and experiences living abroad. While sophomores, the pair started dating, and although the day of their the first date differs depending on who you ask, there’s no question that February 5, 2019 marks their first official day as a couple. Since they started dating, the two have graduated college, lived in three different states, traveled to fifteen states and seven countries, worked in a combined six different professional sports leagues and adopted their six year old corgi mix, Mayo. Michael asked Claire to marry him in June 2025 in his uncle's backyard in Dewey Beach, Delaware.
