This will be an indoor ceremony.
For the mehndi: please feel free to dress in any semi-formal attire you may feel comfortable in. This may include cocktail dresses, or Indian attire. All prints and colors are fair game to wear! For an idea of styles, please see the following: https://www.pinterest.com/pujaf/mendhi/
At the end of the day, we want everyone to be comfortable in whatever they're wearing. Indian attire for wedding goes all out. For our non-Indian friends and family, if you're inclined to, go formal. You cannot be overdressed at an Indian wedding. If you're interested in looking for an Indian outfit but need help, or are trying to gauge formality of an outfit, please see the following link: https://www.pinterest.com/pujaf/wedding-attire/
There are MULTIPLE stores on Long Island and Queens. On Long Island, S Broadway has an entire strip of stores (with varying prices). I have been to the following places, if you'd like a place to start: -Chandigarh Fashion https://maps.app.goo.gl/N1i2V3FGqnEhCNEu5 -Sai Fashion https://maps.app.goo.gl/TfmS388FEvmmv2Dt6 Outside of the strip these are 2 really good places: -Regards Wholesale https://maps.app.goo.gl/97gHMXqSkGRttJWKA -Milnah Wholesale https://maps.app.goo.gl/XASseLjT8YArGjsc6 Otherwise ordering online is a good option. Lashkaraa is one of the sites with better reviews and reasonable prices: https://www.lashkaraa.com/ As is Aza https://www.azafashions.com/en-us And Indian Wedding Saree https://www.indianweddingsaree.com/ Please note if you're buying online you should be ordering them custom fit and may need a tailor after
Glen Cove is ~30 miles from New York City. If you are driving, you can certainly drive straight there, but be aware that traffic in the city is awful and parking can be expensive. There is a Glen Cove train station which will get you into the city, about a 5 minute drive/Uber/Lyft away. For train times and tickets, please see the following website: https://new.mta.info/schedules Or the MTA TrainTime app
Feel free to take pictures during the ceremony. We only ask that you please keep your phone silenced for the duration of the ceremony.
