After having a rough couple of month's recovering from a horrific accident, I had finally gained the strength to walk with a cane. My dad noticed I seemed down from being cooped up in the house all day and suggested that I get out of the house for a while and go see my cousin, Miranda. We took a peaceful 30 minute drive to her house. Once we arrived, I took my time walking in the house and eventually made it to the door that connected to the garage. Little did I know, what was on the other side of that door would change my life forever. I turned the handle of the door and pushed, held it open with one hand while my cane was in the other and walked down the steps. I saw Ryan sitting on a chair, he looked up at me. Miranda followed behind me and then introduced us. After we all chilled for a while, Miranda went up to bed. I wasn't exactly tired, so Ryan agreed to keep me company for a while until I was ready to go to sleep. We just start talking... and talking... and talking. Next thing we knew, it was 4am in the morning. Ryan had to leave for work before I woke up that day. I remember a feeling of regret because I neglected to ask for his phone number before heading to bed. Later that day my dad picked me up. The entire way home, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. I thought about our great conversations and laughter for days. I asked my dad if I could go back over to Miranda's some time soon. Finally, he had time to take me! My excitement was quickly followed by more disappointment.... He wasn't there. Miranda knew that I was fond of him without me even mentioning it. She informed me that he was constantly working because he lived alone but whenever he had free time, he was usually there. I left in disappointment yet again... Take two- My dad brought me over to Miranda's again. The entire way there, I was anxious to find out if he was going to be there. Now, in hindsight... I don't know why I didn't just tell her to text or call me when he was going to be stopping by. I inconspicuously walked in, took a look around, and headed to the door that leads into the garage and opened it. Nope... He wasn't there. I closed the door with my head hung low. I sat at the dining table and waited for Miranda. I then heard footsteps coming down the hall. It was him! I attempted to hide my excitement. I thought to myself, "just play it cool, Jasmine." Couldn't tell you if it worked or not lol. We talked more that evening and I had planned to ask for his number prior to heading to bed. Before I had that chance, he asked for mine. To say I was thrilled would be an understatement. After I finally completely healed from the accident, I went home to my aunt and uncle's house in Aurora. Ryan lived in Thornton... We started texting and continued to get to know each other. We talked practically every day from the time we woke up to the time we went to bed. I didn't have a car at the time, so when Ryan and I wanted to see each other he would have to come get me or on occasion I would take 2 buses to go see him but it was definitely worth it. Throughout the first year and a half of our relationship, Ryan had this wall up. I Was determined to tear the wall down brick by brick and eventually I was successful. We then bought our house together and a few years later had our beautiful Milani together. Some say, we have done things "out of order," but we say, it's perfectly us! Join us while we finally tie the knot!
