Initially becoming acquaintances at a small group bible study, they slowly grew fond of each other during the summer of 2019. Rachel always being a recluse during group discussions, Angel never realized how brilliant and well-read she was — filled with unique thoughts and ideas — until he started to goad her into conversations. The momentum of interest quickly gained traction between the two as they spent most of the summer together. As the dog days were swiftly coming to pass, the two were met with a difficult obstacle. Rachel must leave her hometown to pursue her education in Edinburgh, Scotland. Torn, the two had to decide whether or not to pursue a relationship with each other. After a lengthy, serious but whimsical conversation, both mutually decided to start their relationship with the intention of marriage, knowing soon that they were going to be long distance partners. They enjoyed their first month of dating together. Before Rachel's departure to the UK, the two already knew that they were going to marry each other; they just needed to get through the rough waters of long distance dating. For months they fervently kept in constant communication with each other, talking for hours on end every single day. The couple never missed a day of talking whether be it through the phone, written letters, or facetime. They grew together spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. Although the lack of physicality was painful, there was great reward for their perseverance. Brought back together sooner by the pandemic, they have been laughing, climbing, and growing with each other as they prepare for their upcoming marriage.
