We were introduced through our 2 best friends. I had feelings for him before we were even official, but I didn’t really talk to him because I didn't think he’d be remotely interested. Joke’s on me! On August 30th, 2014, he asked me to be his girlfriend in perfect, corny Michael fashion. Since then we’ve: traveled, moved in together, created a home, adopted a puppy, laughed, cried and created incredible memories. The past 5 years have been magic and we are so excited to start our greatest adventure yet....MARRIAGE!
Let me start by saying that I HATE surprises, so our engagement story (or at least the journey) is fairly unconventional. I was with Michael when he picked out and bought my engagement ring in December of 2016 and I knew he would be proposing when we went to Hawaii in September 2017. The one thing I didnt know was where or when he would do it. On Day 5 of our Maui adventure, we went ziplining on the Southern part of the island that morning and then were planning on hiking to see the Twin Falls. We decided to trek a bit further to the more secluded waterfall. There was a decent amount of people so Michael suggested we put our stuff in a more private spot away from people so nothing would get stolen. After a quick dip in the freezing water, we dried off and Michael suggested that we take a photo with our GoPro. We had just gotten it, so I only knew how to take a video rather than a picture. He said to just take a video and that we could take some stills from the footage. So after McGiver-ing the GoPro in some branches as a make-shift tripod, we posed for the film. I thought to myself “he is gonna do it, he is gonna do it...”, but instead we smiled, kissed a bit and he said “ok, you can go turn it off and we can head back”. Guess I was wrong and he was planning on doing it another time. As I turned around and walked toward the camera to turn it off, he said “...but first Hayley turn around”. I turned around to find him on one knee and immediately shouted “oh my God, you ARE doing it here!” It was magic and now we have it on film-YAY!
