We had planned a trip to Madrid for Rachit's birthday. I didn't think he was going to propose because 1. he had to get the perfect ring (so much pressure) 2. he had to ask my parents ..who can't keep secrets and 3. nothing gets past me- so I would have seen it coming. The first couple days of our trip, I would joke to him about proposing because that's how certain I was he wasn't going to. On the second day, I saw a bulge in his front pocket I even poked it jokingly to see if it was a ring box, it turns out it was vaseline -_-. At that point I knew it wasn't happening. The VERY next day I had planned a whole day of walking around the city. I get dressed in jeans, sneakers and my fanny pack. Rachit looks at me and asks "you are wearing that?" and told me I needed to change. Of course I didn't listen. I told him he had no style and went along my way...little did I know he was actually trying to help. He insisted on picking the lunch spot which strayed from the itinerary but I decided to let him have this one thing. After lunch we walked down the block and “found” the Puerta de Alaca. We walk up to it and Rachit starts with a history lesson about what this gate represented - meanwhile i was just trying get a picture for my instagram. He started his speech with a story of how people from all over entered through these gates to start a new beginning and it turned into the story of our new beginning.
