After Juan had graduated from Harvard, he moved to Austin, TX where Priscilla lived only 2 hours away in College Station, TX. Juan and Priscilla had seen each other in photos through mutual friends for several months. Finally, on one beautiful summer night, Juan invited Priscilla out to dinner. They went to a sushi restaurant (Priscilla’s favorite food) in Austin, TX, popped a bottle of champagne, and talked and laughed for hours and hours. The sparks were instant after the first “hello”. It was truly love at first sight. It only took one night for them to fall in love with each other. On that night, they knew that they had found a best friend in each other.
Priscilla had just graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Juan had planned a 2-month long trip of a lifetime around the world to celebrate this milestone. They started off in Tokyo, Japan then flew to Bali, Indonesia where Juan had a huge surprise planned. They woke up bright and early to explore the beautiful city. They arrived at their first tourist stop of the day: Blangsinga Waterfall. The sight was surreal, the sound of the water was soothing, and the atmosphere was very romantic. Priscilla set up her camera on self-timer for a photo as they had been doing the entire trip and to her surprise, Juan got down on one knee and told her he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. Of course, Priscilla said YES!!! They both cried in joy, they couldn’t believe that their dream of marrying their best friend was becoming a reality! They celebrated their new engagement feasting on Bali’s famous dish “nasi goring” at the waterfall’s club resort. Juan had another surprise planned out after the proposal: their own private villa on a secluded island. We were living a dream we only ever thought existed in movies.
