Donel’s Perspective Our story officially reached a big moment on December 25th, 2025, when I looked at Priscille and asked her one of the most important questions of my life: “Priscille… would you marry me?” Thankfully (and wisely), she said yes. But to understand how we got there, we have to rewind a little. It all started in January 2024 with a simple message. I wished Priscille a Happy New Year and asked how life was going where she was living. At the time she was in Iowa dealing with a serious winter storm. When she told me no one had gone outside because of the snow, I jokingly told her it sounded like Russia had followed her to Iowa. What started as a simple conversation about the weather quickly became daily conversations. And that’s when I discovered something special. Priscille wasn’t just beautiful—she loved God deeply, she was passionate about life, and she had a heart that cared for people. We started sharing about faith, the Word of God, and encouraging each other. Sometimes I would send her long messages about scripture in the morning (yes… the long ones 😅), and she always received them with joy. Our conversations were never boring. One day we were talking about faith, another day about Congo soccer matches, and another day we were joking about sending a cheeseburger through Amazon Prime because she said she wanted to try the one I cooked. Slowly I started calling her things like bébé, mon amour, ma vie, and chouchou. Somehow it felt completely natural. What I admired about her the most was her strength, her believing, and the joy she carried in her heart. She was also an entrepreneur building her own brand, and I loved seeing her creativity and determination. Little by little our friendship became something deeper. So on a very unique day—February 29th, 2024 (because why not make it memorable?)—I asked her a question: “Would you be my girlfriend?” And when she said yes, my heart knew this story was going somewhere beautiful. From that moment, we laughed more, prayed more, talked more, and grew closer every day. And eventually… I asked her the question that would begin our forever. Priscille’s Perspective From my side, our story began with something very simple: a message. In January 2024, Donel sent me a New Year message asking how I was doing. At that time I was in Iowa, and the winter storm was so intense that people barely wanted to step outside. What I didn’t expect was that this small conversation would become something that would completely change my life. At first, we were simply talking as friends. But the conversations quickly became something I looked forward to every day. Donel was funny, thoughtful, and very encouraging. Sometimes he would send me long spiritual messages early in the morning reminding me of God’s promises. It was impossible not to smile reading them. But he was also playful. Over time he started calling me “bébé,” “mon cœur,” and “chouchou,” and sometimes asking sweet questions like what I had eaten that day. To be honest, I didn’t respond much to those nicknames at first—I was waiting to see if Donel was actually going to ask me out. But even while pretending to stay serious… it was hard not to smile. I also saw how much he loved God and how sincere his heart was. Our conversations about faith, life, and our dreams made our connection deeper and deeper. Without even realizing it, Donel had become someone very special in my life. Then one day—February 29th, 2024—he asked me: “Would you be my girlfriend?” My answer was simple. Yes. From that day on, our friendship turned into a beautiful relationship filled with laughter, prayer, encouragement, and love. And then, on December 25th, 2025, Donel asked me another question that made my heart overflow with joy: “Priscille… would you marry me?” With the biggest smile on my face and love in my heart, I said: Yes. And now we are excited to begin the most beautiful chapter of our story—forever together.
