How We Met

It all started at Baylor

Hunter and I had mutual friends but our paths never seemed to cross…that is until guitar class! I decided to take an intro class because I had a growing interest in playing, and was just self taught at that point. Hunter, on the other hand, was already an amazing player (he most certainly did not belong in a beginners class). Nevertheless, his mom gave him advice that would change both of our lives: Why not take a guitar class–you might meet a girl! Of course he caught my eye as soon as he walked into class one day, and he couldn't help but to ask to borrow my book almost every time. It didn't stop there! We had an instant connection and felt an undeniable spark, while attending a freezing Baylor vs. UT game in 2014, that we still talk about to this day. However, it just wasn't the right time yet. We were out of contact until God had us cross paths once again, in a completely random Journalism class that Fall. You see, it's not possible this encounter was just luck–we were Business majors and taking a Journalism class in the evening was not part of the regular curriculum. We couldn’t help but reconnect and are so thankful that God's handwritten love story has lead us here today!

How He Proposed

5/6/17 she said yes

I had known since day one that Priscilla was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I knew I wanted to execute the perfect proposal for her, which meant somehow keeping it a secret. I told her I was going to pick her up from her friend’s apartment around 6:30, so I could take her to Armstrong Browning Library for a tour. After the tour, we would go to dinner, and then head over to a concert… or so she thought. I knew the library would be closed–this is exactly what I wanted. The library is surrounded by beautiful trails and a garden, and this is where I wanted to propose. My idea was to have my guitar planted on the garden grounds–we set up a girl to have my guitar out, and look as if she was studying on a blanket. Here’s how the plan unfolded: Once we found the library doors to be locked, Priscilla suggested that we could take our time and walk around the garden, since it was such a beautiful day (of course, I had to act “disappointed”, but in my mind I was thinking that this couldn’t be any more perfect). As planned, we started walking. I’ll never forget how fast my heart started to race, I got more nervous than I thought possible. We approached the girl who had my guitar and I told Priscilla quietly that the guitar looked very similar to mine. I then asked the girl if I could play the guitar. She gladly agreed and excused herself from the area. I had written different lyrics to the song “I Can See Clearly Now”, which is very special to the both of us. When I finally had the guitar in my hands all I can remember was how anxious I was, but somehow I managed to get all of the lyrics out. I have no idea how I got through the song, because as soon as Priscilla realized what was going on she broke down in tears and I did the same. Once I finished the song I set my guitar down, got the ring that was hidden in my guitar case, got down on one knee, and asked her if she would make me the happiest man in the world by marrying me. Of course, she said yes!
