How We Met

We met in December 2002 when I began working at Payless ShoeSource. His mother was my boss! He loves his momma very much so he would visit her at work often. Over time, he asked me to go to his prom with him. I initially said yes, but later changed my mind for personal reasons. To this day, he will NOT let me live this down! Haha. Fast forward to April 2017. I moved back from the Austin area after being gone five years. I saw him one day at the YMCA and caught up with his mom there as well. Well, he and I share a cousin named AJ. (No, Auggie and I are not related). AJ texted me one night and says his cousin Auggie is interested in me. We became friends on social media and had catch-up conversation for a few weeks. He finally asked me on a date after building up courage given by my best friend Stacy! We had our first date and laughed the whole time. We both shared similar goals in life. Most importantly, to be the best parents we can be. That’s when we knew this reunion was meant to be. Everything happens for a reason!

The Proposal

February 2, 2019

The proposal was so unexpected but so perfect! Auggie is quite the sneaky guy. We planned a big Super Bowl party at our home with close family and friends. I actually invited more than our home capacity allows but we made it work! Lol. We had a great turnout and was surprised at how many actually showed up. It was later brought to my attention that Auggie secretly reached out to our guests and informed them of his plan. We all settled in the living room to watch the halftime show and suddenly Auggie has to "go to the bathroom". I'm watching the halftime show jamming out and the volume minimizes and Beyonce's "Single Ladies" starts playing. Out from the hallway comes my beautiful family. Auggie had gone to change into the t-shirts he had made for Kymbry (WILL), Kavien (YOU), Donavyn (MARRY) and himself (ME). I was in complete shock but also overwhelmed with JOY! I immediately noticed the happiness on my children's faces as Auggie got on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was then that I knew this was our HAPPILY EVER AFTER and tearfully replied, YES! Thank you all for being apart of our beautiful story.
