Our journey began in the fall of 2007, during a group trip from NC to DC with travel enthusiasts and our mutual friend, Temi, who played matchmaker without even realizing it. Temi, acting as the protective brother, challenged me to make my move. Throughout the trip, attempts to approach you were thwarted by engaging conversations and the distance seemed insurmountable. The slow-motion reel in my mind began as we talked more than we danced, sparking a connection that transcended the trip. After exchanging numbers, our conversations continued, leading to a series of dates where you unknowingly shaped the man I am today. Despite an initial decision to part ways amicably, life’s twists and turns kept us close as friends. Stuck together like glue, we weathered challenges and celebrated triumphs. Years later, at a crucial crossroads in our lives, we reconnected on a deeper level, spiritually and emotionally. God’s plan unfolded outside my apartment, where hours of conversation revealed our shared maturity and readiness for each other. Fueled by prayers, fasting, and countless pep talks, I mustered the courage to invite you over. As I serenaded you with my cooking, we shared a meal, sipped wine, and conversed until the stars bore witness to my bold declaration. Your response, “What took you so long,” echoed in my heart, sealing the chapter of our love story. In every twist and turn, God’s goodness prevailed, guiding us to this moment where we embark on a new chapter together.
