John and Robyn first met during their undergraduate studies at Xavier University. Independently, they each decided they were nerdy enough to pursue fencing, and met despite picking different weapons (he’s an epee, she’s a sabre). They lost contact during college as they focused on different hobbies. Years down the road, Robyn was moving away from Xavier towards her first corporate job, and John was moving back to Xavier to pursue a Master’s degree. As the gentleman he is, John sublet Robyn’s apartment, freeing her of her lease. Again, they passed through each other’s lives. The third time the lovebirds crossed paths was in October 2017. Robyn had just bought a house and rejoined her college friend group; John moved back to Ohio from Kentucky, and joined the same friend group. Their relationshup kicked off at a Halloween party downtown. When John walked in dressed as Caesar, Robyn was starstruck. She swooned when she noticed he had the correct number of stab wounds (23)..and he didn’t look bad in a toga either! She quickly cornered him, and they talked about literature and fencing until the wee hours of the morning. After that night, Robyn was hooked and pursued John until he was smitten as well. The rest is history!
