How We Met

February 2018

Who knew that a popular dating app would lead us here? Priesh had just moved to New York from Miami and was looking forward to living the fast and exciting (read: single) life. Pooja, a lifelong New Yorker, joked about showing Priesh around Manhattan. Their first date was at Ardesia Wine Bar where they awkwardly shared stories and made small talk while Priesh pretended to laugh at Pooja's jokes. Somehow her humour stuck with him. Fast forward to the next couple weeks consisting of a delicious Italian dinner at Crispo, a disastrous (snowy) date over the Brooklyn Bridge and an impromptu trip to Upstate New York, they both knew that they had found the person they were always waiting for. Moral of the story? Swipe right.

Proposal

June 11, 2020

Priesh originally planned to propose in March 2020 but his plans were derailed because of the Covid-19 outbreak. A few months of quarantine together in their small apartment, Pooja and Priesh spontaneously decided to go to Miami to get away from the madness that was in New York (and to also have more than 500 square feet of space). Priesh managed to get the ring, which was safeguarded at the jeweler's since March, the night before their red-eye flight! Within a few days he hired a photographer, secured dinner reservations at a restaurant they were both dying to go to and got a fresh haircut after months of hibernation. He even subtly convinced Pooja to get her nails done pre-proposal. The day of the proposal he told Pooja to get dressed up for a "date night." He decided it would be nice to walk to South Beach and get a drink before dinner. Little did she know, there was a photographer waiting on the beach ready to capture the exact moment he popped the question! A few (okay, a lot) tears later and a speech that she doesn't fully remember, she said Y E S!
