How We Met -Evan

Love at Second DM

Both of us were attending Scott High School at the same time when I decided to ask Allie to homecoming my senior year. My friends talked me into it since she was by far my biggest crush at my new school, but. before I could ask her that afternoon another boy beat me to it, which would turn into her first long term relationship. A few years later I saw her again. She was attending Marshall now and which we had never really spoken I had a feeling she was into me. With a good bit of confidence I did what all great romantics do... I slid in her DMs. This did not go as planned. So I moved on somewhat until a couple years later something else happened. A big moment that would forever change our futures: She said hi to me. Basically just in passing, but still it was enough to make me forget all lessons learned and assume that she must have changed her mind. I am a world class mental gymnast, and because I rarely saw her in person I had to go to the ol' reliable method of using the internet. No trying to text for a while or build up to it. Just a date. This time she said yes. One might ask why the change of heart? She later told me that when I asked she said to her friend, Taylor, that "he deserves a date at this point." I like to think that she was right. That first date happened less than a week later and it went very well. A few days after that a second date happened, and then a third. Our third date one of our favorites. We just went to Qdoba and talked for a long time, and then we had our first kiss before we left. We would meet in the middle between Huntington and Boone and go on a few dates each week until Christmas Break was over and she came back to Marshall, and at that point things really took off. She seemed to like me. I did the "falling in love" equivalent of stepping down an empty elevator shaft. Since then we have both tried our best to build as healthy a relationship as possible. She's my best friend and I can't wait to marry her.
