"Did you meet at college?" No. "Did you meet each other through mutual friends?" No. "Are you from the same hometown?" No. "Did you meet on a dating app?" No. "Then HOW did you meet?!" In a parking lot. How romantic, right?! In all seriousness, when they say "you'll find the one when you least expect it," they weren't lying! We both attended the Kendrick Lamar concert at Darien Lake, on June 3rd, 2018. It was my 21st birthday weekend, and I wanted something fun to do, so why not a concert?! I made some travel plans with some girlfriends and we made it happen. Meanwhile, he had a free ticket from a family friend (shoutout to Arna Tygart) and decided to tag along with a few friends as well. The concert ended, then the long dreaded wait to get out of the parking lot was upon us. There was another car next to my car of friends, also trying to escape from the chaos of the parking lot, and unable to move. After some time, I noticed there was a cute boy in the car next door, and we all started some conversation with the group. With some liquid courage, that cute boy decided to get out of the car and exchanged Snapchats before parting ways. We started messaging each other immediately. 3 months of this went by, getting to know each other. Realizing we had a lot of the same interests, we finally decided it was time to officially meet again in person. At this point, he was still home from Ithaca College on summer vacation, and we decided to meet in Brockport, which was my college town at the time. Needless to say, the vibes were good, and we really hit it off. We continued our relationship long distance while both finishing our senior year of college. Traveling to see each other at any chance we could, goodbyes were not easy. This trust and love for one another really built the foundation of our relationship. We both graduated from college in 2019, and were able to get our first apartment together in August of 2020. We then ventured to Buffalo in 2021 and lived there for 2.5 years, before deciding where we wanted to finally settle our roots. Almost 7 years later, we now own a house together in Le Roy, NY, and are planning our wedding. I couldn't imaging doing this life with anyone else by my side, and I am so happy that we found each other in that Darien Lake parking lot. Life brought us together in a way that required so many steps to make it happen, without us even knowing. If your car was not parked next to ours that night, we would have never met. If we parked our car 30 seconds earlier or later, we would've never met. This life can get crazy, but there is always one thing that is always strong, and that is our love for each other. We cannot wait for the day that we get to call each other "husband and wife."
