We met online had several ZOOM chats and found we had a mutual acquaintance from former schools where we previously worked. We met for sushi, enjoyed easy conversation, and our friendship blossomed immediately. We made weekly visits and eventually moved our dating status to exclusive. Martha moved to Pasadena with Preston. We enjoyed hiking, sailing, and walking our dogs around Pasadena. We enjoyed each other's company and had fun with mundane tasks like doing laundry, grocery shopping, and more. We bought a place in Laguna Woods and started planning our future together, but the "M" word was not a part of the conversation, at least not on Preston's part. Little did Martha know, Preston was going to propose, and along with Martha's sister Roxane he planned a surprise engagement party June 17, 2023 with with family and friends attending.
