- MATTHEW 8:10
While attending BYU - Idaho, Alex was introduced to Preston through their mutual friend (aka the best woman - Melrose) while playing an online computer game, called "Rumble Fighter", together. Impressed by Alex's butt-kicking skills in the game, he drew up the courage to ask her for her number. Soon after they spent countless nights, staying up until the crack of dawn talking on the phone for hours. During the winter break, Alex flew back home to Hawaii and they met for the first time "in-person" for some late night slurpies from 7-11. Long story short, things worked out ;)
After graduating from BYU-Idaho, Alex moved back home to Hawaii where Preston wasted no time in asking her out on their first date. Like any good first date, it consisted of a scary movie and a late night dinner at Zippys. Sounds like a typical date, right? Sure.. except he had invited four of his friends to join their date without Alex's knowledge and throughout the entire movie, they kept motioning to Preston to put his arm around her. Not awkward at all... Despite Preston being too shy to make the "move," they had an awesome first date.
After nine years of dating, buying their first home together and adopting three furrbabies - Preston decided it was finally time to pop the question. Instead of reading how it happened, we think some things are much better watching. Copy and paste the below link into your web address bar: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx_OHpRBzrA/
If you didn't already know, both Preston and Alex are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (i.e, yes - they're mormons!). After Preston got baptized in February 2019, he knew he wanted to follow God's plan for him and marry Alex for eternity in the temple. But being a new member of the church, that would require him to wait a whole year before he was able to do so. After much thought and prayer, they both decided it would be best for them to civilly get married in the eyes of law while waiting to get married in the Laie LDS temple for all time & eternity. They are both so excited to have all their friends & family celebrate this next milestone in their lives - as they say "I do" again in the eyes of god.
