We met on Cinco de Mayo 2014 at a local bar. A brief, comical text chat led us to realize we had been a mere 25 feet away from each other the whole time. Introductions were made, laughs were shared, and the rest is history... Fast forward three and a half years of laughter, growing friendships, moving out on our own, growing our "home" by 4 paws (Kai), and then 4 more a year later (Oakley), to December 2017. Alex and I decided to take a mini-vacation to the mountains. Some time before, my brother sent me a photo of the Walls of Jericho with 1 task: find this place and hike it! After the weather was too unfortunate to attempt the hour and half drive and moderately strenuous hike, we stumbled across Cloudland Canyon just across the valley from the quaint 'Lover's Loft' where we were staying. December 18th wasn't a beautiful, sunny day, but there was something about the canyon with morning fog nestled inside that projected the natural beauty of the area. We were both in awe. Five minutes in to our hike Alex called me down to a ledge, and asked me to stand in front of him so he could take a picture of me looking across the canyon. I didn't discover until sometime later that his little photo op actually was a ploy to showcase the ring behind my back. However, while he was in the midst of setting up for his big moment, I coincidentally decided to take my traditional hiking photo with my feet dangling off the ledge. Alex scrambled to tuck away the ring and act normal, while fussing at me to not fall off the cliff. (What a plot twist that would've been!) Once i finished my own little photo op and stood back up, Alex was down on his knee, and despite his preparation of a sentimental speech, he only managed to say the four words that every girl dreams of hearing. It was the perfect moment, and more than I had ever dreamed. All of these events have led us to this: we're getting married, and we are so thrilled to share our next chapter with those we love and cherish most!
