Question

How do I pay for things in Armenia?

Answer

Armenian local currency is the dram. Around 400 drams is equal to 1 U.S dollar, but that might change slightly in the next year. Most places will take credit card, but we do recommend exchanging some cash for taxi rides or souvenir markets. You can exchange at the airport or in certain supermarkets (e.g. SAS supermarket, Parma in Northern Ave) for cheaper.

Question

What will the weather be like during the wedding?

Answer

During the day it will be hot, with the temperature ranging from 25°C (77°F) to 35°C (95°F). In the evenings, it will be slightly cooler, with temperatures from 18°C (64°F) to 22°C (72°F).

Question

What clothes should I bring?

Answer

We will be walking a lot during the tours, so be sure to bring comfortable shoes and clothes that you won't feel too hot in. There will be a swimming pool, so bring a swimsuit if you want to cool off in the water. For Friday, we encourage Indian formal clothing, but it is definitely not required. On Saturday, we recommend formal Western attire, which can include suits, tuxes, and dresses.

Question

What is Indian attire, and where do I get some?

Answer

Women can wear sarees, lehengas, salwar kameezes, or anarkalis. For formal events, choose silk or silk blend over full cotton. Don't be afraid to go all out on accessories like big earrings, statement necklaces, and bangles. Men can wear kurtas with an optional Nehru jacket. Pernia's Pop-Up Shop and Aza Fashions are two big online retailers, but there are many other stores too. Make sure to order a couple of months in advance, as pieces might be made to order or ship from India.
