FAQ

The Wedding Website of Katie Povey and Tim Lang
We’ve put together a few helpful details to make the weekend as easy and fun as possible. If you still have questions, feel free to reach out to us anytime.
Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please reply on the RSVP page of our website by Thursday, June 4th. We kindly ask that responses be submitted by then for the sake of our seating chart and sanity. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Question

Are you registered?

Answer

Your presence at our wedding is more than enough, but if you would like to contribute, you can find links to our Crate & Barrel and CB2 registries, as well as our honeymoon fund, on the Registry page of our website.

Question

Where can I find hotel and travel information?

Answer

We’re so grateful that so many of you are traveling to Chicago for our wedding weekend. You can find hotel block details, airport information, and directions for getting into the city on the Travel page of our website to make planning as easy as possible.

Question

What’s the best way to get around Chicago during the weekend?

Answer

Walking and rideshare will be the easiest ways to get around throughout the weekend. Uber, Lyft, and the Curb app are all great options. The CTA trains and buses are also easy to use with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or the Ventra app. Divvy bikes and e-scooters are also available throughout the city for the brave.

Question

Will transportation be provided between the hotels and venue?

Answer

We won’t be providing transportation between hotels and venues, but everything is easily accessible by foot, rideshare, or public transit.

Question

Is there parking at the Chicago Cultural Center?

Answer

There are several nearby garages and hourly parking lots around the Chicago Cultural Center, though we recommend walking or rideshare when possible.

Question

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

Answer

Our ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 PM and doors will close once the ceremony begins. Please plan to arrive by 5:15 PM via the south entrance on Washington Street and proceed to the third floor using the grand staircase or elevator in the lobby. Refreshments will be available prior to the ceremony.

Question

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

All wedding events will be indoors.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Please wear formal attire for our ceremony and reception. Cocktail attire is requested for the welcome drinks. Visit our What To Wear page for outfit inspiration and planning ideas. We can’t wait to see everyone dressed up and ready to celebrate!

Question

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

Answer

We kindly ask that guests keep phones and cameras tucked away during the ceremony so everyone can be fully present with us in the moment. We’ve hired an incredible photo and video team and promise to share plenty of photos afterward.

Question

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Answer

Please include any dietary restrictions when you RSVP and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Yes. We would never do that to you.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our wedding weekend will be limited to kids in our immediate family.

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

Please refer to your invitation and RSVP page for your guest count. If a plus one was included, it will appear there.

Question

Is there an after party?

Answer

Yes! For those still going strong, we’ll be heading to Mom’s Place after the reception for late-night drinks and karaoke. Please note there is a cover charge at the door, drinks will be available for purchase, and the karaoke only gets better after midnight.

Question

Are there any other events during the weekend?

Answer

Please see the Things To Do page on our website for some of our favorite restaurants, bars, and spots around the city. We’re planning a casual Sunday hangout before everyone heads home and will share details on our website closer to the weekend. We also have access to discounted Cubs tickets for anyone interested in catching a Sunday afternoon game, with more information available on the Things To Do page.
