On a chilly winter morning, Betsy walked 30 minutes across Brooklyn with skis on her shoulder. Few people were around to notice the unusual urban sight at 3:30 in the morning as she made her way to the Vermont ski bus. Meanwhile, Chris was putting his equipment in an Uber to travel into Manhattan to meet the same ski bus on the Upper West Side. Chris boarded an already busy bus and looked down at the empty seat next to Betsy, caught her eye, smiled and asked “Would you mind if I sat here?” Betsy was charmed by his chivalry and great smile and said that he could of course sit next to her. They talked for the whole 5-hour journey to Vermont as the full moon set (a blue moon, no less) and the sun slowly rose. They discussed summers in Ontario, rock climbing, celtic music, iced coffee in winter, and skiing in Austria. Their lives felt startlingly parallel, and this meeting marked the moment that their paths had finally crossed.
We of course want to see you for our special occasion; however, nothing means more to us than your health and safety. We recognize this has been a turbulent time for so many and ask that you join us only if you feel comfortable doing so. At this time, to ensure we can all have a carefree, celebratory weekend we kindly ask that you are: 1) vaccinated or 2) that you have a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the events and complete a rapid test the day you attend your first event. We will make sure to adhere to any new CDC and venue guidelines to ensure the safety of all our loved ones--so check back here for updates on COVID-related policies. Let us know if you're having difficulty with testing (or anything else!) and we're happy to assist with sourcing and/or locating rapid tests for you locally. We also understand that some people may feel best also wearing a mask in group settings, so those will be provided. For additional flexibility for traveling, the hotels we have recommended allow full refunds (less $30) up to 48 hours before your booking for anyone uncertain about their ability to travel. We will also have the ceremony accessible by Zoom (see FAQ for details) for those who cannot attend.
