Steve would often visit his highschool buddies at Cal Poly while Katie also attended there. Some of his friends were in her friend group, but she never actually met him when he visited. One day, Steve slid into Katie's DMs. He asked if she was going to an upcoming music festival, and luckily she was. They officially "met" at Lightning in a Bottle while dancing in a tent under a disco ball.
Prior to meeting Steve, Katie had already booked a one-way ticket to Australia. She planned on moving there permanently and was ready for this new chapter of her life. And Steve was finishing his last semester at USC anyway. Katie and Steve hung out for a few weeks prior to her departure with the idea of not really seeing each other ever again. The day came and they had to say their goodbyes… or so we thought. After living abroad for only a month (and texting every day with a 17 hour time difference) Katie was falling for Steve and it was time to go back home.
So Katie moves back to Los Angeles, but where is she supposed to live? Should she move in with this guy she’s known for three months? Probably not. But she does it anyway. Usually, a girl will leave an earring or something as an excuse to go back over to a guy’s house. Katie left a few suitcases.
Since they met at a music festival, it only felt right to make it official at one too. After living together for two months and doing everything with each other, you’d assume the two were dating. But Steve was dragging his feet and hadn’t asked Katie out yet. So, Katie decided to tell Steve that they were dating one random morning. And that’s how they became official boyfriend & girlfriend.
After moving five times, owning two prized-possessions (Maggie & Harley), and lots of traveling – it was time to lock it down. Steve had told Katie they were going to a friends party on the beach. They started walking in the sand towards their friend’s house when he stopped her and started his speech. He got down on one knee and behind him was a yacht packed with 30 of their closest friends and family. After the proposal, Steve and Katie hopped aboard and celebrated their engagement with everyone while sailing around the harbor. Then they docked at the Newport Beach Yacht Club and had a surprise engagement party waiting for them. What a day to remember!
