It was March 22nd, 2016. There was a Kick-Off party that evening to celebrate the new class of Pittsburgh 50's Finest. Amanda was excited to attend the party as she was going to be honored and welcomed into the 2016 Pittsburgh 50's Finest class. Evan was also planning to attend the event as he was an active member on the 50 Finest Board. Evan had found out earlier that day that his Bubba (Grandmother) had passed and was hoping the party would cheer him up and be a good distraction as he was devastated about her passing. Amanda was thrilled for her stint as an honoree to begin. She was eager to give back to the community and meet new people in the process. Amanda and Evan had never met but were aware of each other because they shared mutual friends and actually lived on the same street in Shadyside. Their first conversation at the 50 Finest party was not your typical romantic comedy moment. They exchanged pleasantries and that was about it. Evan of course worked his charm and made a lasting impression. Evan left that night grinning from ear to ear because he knew that he met the women he is going to marry. He thought she was adorable in that professional, bright red blazer which he stills gives her a hard time about today. Amanda may not have had similar thoughts but she left that night knowing there was something special about that sweet guy. The next few months Evan would go to as many 50 Finest charity events as possible with hopes that Amanda would be there. He would make sure to offer her rides or share ubers so they could spend more time together. The more time they spent together it become clear that these two were meant to be. Once Evan and Amanda decided to make it official, they were inseparable and have been ever since. To this day, Evan takes comfort in the fact that although losing his Bubba was one of his worst days, she guided him to Amanda, Red Blazer and all.
