Chad and Portia met in the midst of a global pandemic on September 2nd, 2021, when ministry was confined to video conferencing. At first introduced by mutual friends, they gradually began to spend more time in the ministry together. As the pandemic began to decrease in severity, they were able to meet in person for the first time with their mutual friends. The sparks were instant, both families noting that they seemed to gravitate towards one another seamlessly. As they began to get to know each other as friends, Portia began to fall for his calm nature, his crude humor, and the way he looked to Jehovah for guidance always. Chad found himself feeling open and trusting to Portia, and how she sought to try and make herself the best version of herself in both spiritual matters and otherwise. Bonding over coffee, service, and laughter brought them both immense closeness. In August of 2022, Chad asked Portia's father permission to date her. From there, the two became inseparable. Coffee dates and service breaks became their haven from all the other noise in the world. Laughter, tears, and frustrations were shared, and every moment evaporated into a seamless string of time. They are both young, but have been there for each other through both good times and hardship. Portia always read books where the love interest was dreamy and unattainable; Chad always felt that dreams of "the right person" were too good to be true. Well, June 10th of 2023 cemented that Chad and Portia are sure that each other are better than any dream or fiction of love; in form of a beautiful ring.
