During the spring of senior year, Lexi was looking to ask someone to her Turnabout dance. Her friends gave her many ideas, but Lexi was not interested in asking just anyone. It wasn't until her best friend Sara said, "What about Vinny Portera?", and mentioned that he was recently single. This was the first person that she was actually interested in going with. Lexi asked Vinny to Turnabout with some homemade cupcakes and the rest is history! The two continued to talk after the dance and on March 21, 2012, Vinny finally asked Lexi to be his girlfriend.

Lexi was approached by Vinny's mom, Carm, with the idea of throwing him a surprise birthday party. Carm asked Lexi to get all of his friends on board while she took care of the family. Little did Lexi know this plan was not actually for Vinny's birthday, but rather their engagement. Lexi was then challenged with the difficult task of getting Vin out of the house so she turned to his brother Frankie and his wife, Heather. The three of them decided lunch and Top Golf would be the best idea but needed Frankie to pitch it to Vin or he would be suspicious of Lexi. Thankfully, Vinny agreed and went along with the plan. Once they got back to their parent's house, Lexi and Vinny took a minute to argue over who should go through the back gate first. Lexi did not understand why Vinny was being so stubborn since she thought she was surprising him. Much to her surprise, this party was all so that Vinny could propose to Lexi in front of some of their closest friends and family.
