Back in 2017, both Chrissy & Matt were heading to Destination: Back Office, a class at Disney University (the training facility at Walt Disney World). Chrissy was the first person to show up to class and waited patiently while the room began to fill in. Matt, a random guy at the time, decided to sit kitty-corner from Chrissy. Even though neither one spoke a single word to each other all day, they happen to be the only Cast Members within the entire class that was working 3rd shift, and knew the struggles that came with that.
On the third day of training at Disney University, Chrissy arrived to find the classroom completely full. Chrissy saw a couple of empty seats in the back of the class, and recognized a familiar back of someone’s head from her previous two days of training. She walked up to the open chair and asked the gentleman if she could sit next to him. He generously indicated that she could, and they began to talk about how they were the only two people from the previous days of class in this particular time for a third day of training, and the struggles of working 3rd shift. They continued to gradually have small talk during their short breaks, including Chrissy asking, “how many sodas do you have in there?” as Matt pulls out his 3rd can of the morning out of his backpack... but it wasn’t until they were indicated to partner up with the person next to them, that they started to really talk with one another. Their instructor suggested for them to create accounts under their favorite Disney character’s name. (Chrissy's was “Hades Underworld” - of course!) During the exercise, they worked through the examples that were given to them, but were laughing and joking the entire time, while still making progress learning how the system worked. “That’s Mr. Underworld to you!” They decided to exchange information by the end of the class in case they ever needed help between resorts later on.
Chrissy and Matt went on their very first date back when they both were still working overnight at Walt Disney World. On this day, they decided to go to Universal Orlando’s CityWalk to visit the AMC Movie Theater for a late night movie. They met up at Matt’s house, as Chrissy wanted to hear him play some music for her and possibly teach her a chord or two. Shortly after, they headed towards CityWalk to watch Spider-Man Homecoming, on the big screen - even though they had both seen the movie before, but Matt originally suggested (Stephen King’s) IT and anyone who knows Chrissy... knows that’s a HUGE NO, as she's the biggest scaredy-cat. After the movie, They decided to walk around the deserted CityWalk and talk about their likes, dislikes, life experiences, and much more. Even though they both weren’t looking for a relationship at the time, Chrissy could tell that this man was someone very special, intriguing, and someone who could consistently make her laugh throughout the entire night. Matt was a total gentleman the entire time and they continued to hang out until 4am (which, them being night owls and very chatty, this was very easy for them to do). Chrissy went to sleep that night thinking that even though they had such a great time, maybe she had been put into the “friend zone” - due to the lack of any type of “move” on her throughout the night. The text she woke up to the following morning told her quite differently, and she could not have been happier! “Just wanted to say hello. And ask if it’s too desperate to want to see you again? :)” - Matt Chrissy was so eager to see Matt again and get to know him on a much deeper level. Needless to say, he soon opened up to her and didn’t hold back letting her know how he felt about her.
Chrissy and Matt had been unofficially dating for just short of a month at this point and they were already falling for each other. He made her so incredibly happy every second she was with him and she couldn’t wait until he would finally ask her to be his “girlfriend”. They decided to go to Magic Kingdom and she knew in her gut and thought, "he’s going to ask me today!" She could tell he knew she had that gut feeling, and tried to steer away from it to make sure it was still a surprise. They joked about it throughout the day all the way until they got in line to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. While waiting in line, YES... in the line itself, he asked her to be his girlfriend. Her reply was, “Really? In line your going to ask me?” He replies with, “Well... I had to make sure you didn’t see it coming!” She simply replied, “YES YES YES!” They continued to express how happy they truly were finally being an official couple.
Chrissy and Matt were up on a trip to Asheville, North Carolina for their 3rd anniversary during the global COVID-19 pandemic to hike and simply be outside in the fresh air. On a foggy morning, atop Mt. Pisgah, Matt and Chrissy were taking some photos overlooking the rolling terrain of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Chrissy, had “a feeling” that a certain question was about to be asked, just not on Halloween. Sure enough, Matt wanting to catch her off guard (just like he did when he asked her to be his girlfriend), decided to propose and got down on one knee. Overcame with excitement, and after some of the shock quieted down, Chrissy finally said "YESSSSS!"
