Alright, let me tell you how it went down. I’m in town for a short gig, just doing my thing at Walmart, picking up some stuff. I peeped her in the snack aisle, and I was like damn, she fine! But she was playin' it cool, not even interested at first. So, I try to chat her up, but she’s not exactly jumping at the chance. She’s all business, just there for groceries. But I’m not one to give up easily. Later on, we cross paths again in the electronics section. I throw out a lame joke about our shopping lists, and to my surprise, she laughs. Okay, maybe there’s something here. I convinced her to give me her number, next thing you know, we're chattin' it up, and boom, sparks flyin' everywhere. The next day, I took her out for Mexican food—her favorite. We hit it off right away. She’s hilarious, intelligent, and absolutely stunning. Here’s the catch, though—I wasn’t looking for anything serious. I was only in town for a short work assignment. But meeting her completely changed my plans. We start this long-distance thing. Late-night calls, texting all day, and making plans to see each other whenever we can. It’s crazy how quickly she became the highlight of my time in Indiana. We were inseparable, and neither one of us wanted to call it quits. Despite the short time frame, I find myself falling hard. That girl from Walmart? She turned my world upside down. Every time I think about those snack aisles, I can’t help but smile, knowing it all started with a bag of chips and a cheesy joke.
So, picture this. I'm just trying to get my shopping done at Walmart, minding my own business debating between Hot Cheetos and Doritos (life's tough choices), when this guy rolls up in the snack aisle. He's kinda cute, but I'm just here for groceries, you feel me? He tries to strike up a conversation, but I’m not really interested. Even though his bright smile and smooth chocolate skin definitely have my attention! Lol Then, like fate or whatever, we bump into each other again in the electronics section. I’m thinking, "Is this guy stalking me or what?" He cracks this joke about us having the same shopping list, and I can't help but laugh. Okay, maybe he’s got some charm. He somehow convinces me to give him my number. We text all night long and the conversation was so refreshing! The next day, he takes me out for my favorite food—Mexican. We sit down, and before I know it, we’ve been talking for hours and hours about everything possible. I feel like I've known him forever; our conversation was so easy. He’s funny, sweet, and just real. But here’s the kicker-he’s from out of town, here on a job. Like, seriously, God definitely has a sense of humor. It was cool at first because neither one of us was looking for anything serious; how quickly that would change. After our first date we were inseparable, and when his job ended, I was sure we would end too. I feel like God knew we needed each other and it was his plan all along that we crossed paths, because we in fact did not end. We decide to keep in touch, and suddenly, I’m knee-deep in this long-distance thing. (if you know me, you know I don't do long distance!) It’s like a rom-com but without the cheesy soundtrack. Late-night calls, endless texts, FaceTime dates, and planning visits like we're plotting a heist. It’s wild, but somehow, it works. Every visit is an adventure, and every goodbye was so hard but also like, "See you soon, my love." Despite the distance and his job keeping him busy, we made it work. That guy with the corny shopping joke? He turned out to be the love of my life and is truly one of my best friends. And now, every time I ride past a Walmart, I can’t help but laugh, remembering how it all started with a simple grocery trip.
